Kyle Austin Dunn analizza le idee di coscienza e di identità: come queste variabili siano influenzate, distorte e confuse da impressioni e creazioni immateriali. Il suo punto di vista è che i comuni pregiudizi cognitivi sono soggetti trascurati e sottovalutati, istituzioni di pensiero che determinano gran parte della nostra realtà condivisa, ma che vengono esaminate in modo troppo inadeguato. Utilizzando modelli di attivazione ottica, i suoi dipinti suggeriscono che la psicologia della percezione ha indizi per esplorare e sfidare i preconcetti. Il lavoro che ne risulta spesso oscilla compulsivamente sotto una rubrica dubbia, sospendendo il giudizio e sollecitando al contempo una risposta emotiva, che può flettersi e deformarsi in un istante.
Kyle Austin Dunn (nato nel 1987 a Daytona Beach, Florida) è un artista visivo di Oakland, California. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto presso la Galleria Nicola Pedana di Caserta, Italia, la Galerie Robertson Arès di Montreal, Canada, la First Amendment Gallery di San Francisco, CA, la Hap Gallery di Portland, OR e l'Headlands Center for the Arts, tra gli altri, negli Stati Uniti e all'estero.
